Someone googled "the Gilded Age" over the weekend and found my blog, that's how I was reminded of this post I run on August 20, 2007, it's worth linking to and running again, check it out. Yup, sad but true. The Gilded Age has busted. Burst, went boom, I've been perpetually facinated, how fashion has somehow instinctively replicated and update that eras look.
I wonder if it's our collective unconscious, something we're clearly not listening to, as our modern vision of it, is extoled and imploding.
"My bank just asked me to pick up another line of credit and said that I had no control over the amount, another CC just raised my limit, I’m actually grateful, yet, I’m at the same time concerned. It also, looks bad on my credit if I actually close a card so I’ve been avoiding it. Yet I think that time will have to happen very soon. I have fifty bucks left on it, they charged me another fifty to keep it open for another, I’m saying no. It’s a bit insane to have it reflect badly, that you’re actually closing cards. It’s just as crazy to give high interest loans to people that can’t afford them."
